At comprei, social sustainability is not just a buzzword, but part of our everyday culture—from fair pay to social engagement.
Achim Angermeier, Managing Director: "As the founder of comprei, my goal is to understand social sustainability not just as a concept, but as a practice that is put into action every day. It is a personal priority for me to support our employees, and I spare no expense or effort in doing so, because appreciation means action. For our future, for our employees, and for our planet."
At comprei, this understanding shapes not just individual measures, but the entire culture—and makes social sustainability tangible in everyday work.
For the Great Place To Work® case study —and thus as the basis for the "Best Workplaces™ in Social Sustainability 2025" – the GPTW team spoke with Samuel Neuhold about how comprei implements social sustainability in concrete terms.
GPTW (question): How can social sustainability be specifically recognized at comprei?
Samuel Neuhold (answer): Through an open, fair remuneration culture, active diversity, and health and development opportunities—as an attitude, not as a program.
Question: How does comprei ensure transparency in terms of salaries?
Answer: The salary structures are clearly defined and are reviewed annually on the basis of responsibility, function, and qualifications—together with management and HR, as well as two external supervisory bodies. Transparent accounting processes make the composition comprehensible; new employees are provided with comprehensive information upon joining the company.
Question: What does "fair pay" mean at comprei?
Answer: Equal pay for equal work—regardless of gender, age, or origin. In addition, there are regular pay comparisons within the industry and region, no pay differences between men and women in comparable positions, and performance- and training-oriented development. Additional benefits (e.g., vouchers, health promotion, family allowances) promote social justice and quality of life.
Question: Social sustainability does not end within the company. How does comprei assume social responsibility—and how is this communicated externally?
Answer: comprei has an impact both internally and externally: We were honored with the Austrian SDG Award 2024 and hold a Synesgy ESG certificate (Index A—“Very Good”). The ESG Compendium describes 14 initiatives – from health promotion and work-life balance to equal opportunities and diversity to support for social projects (e.g., fire department, Doctors Without Borders, disabled sports association). The involvement of families as an important interest group is also important to us. This is actively communicated via our website, LinkedIn, and awards, and employees are regularly involved in ESG projects so that responsibility is shared.
Question: How is social sustainability anchored in comprei's organizational structure to ensure its long-term effectiveness?
Answer: Social sustainability is anchored in the management system (including ISO 9001 / 21001 / 29993) and in the ESG concept. Responsibility for this topic is shared by HR and quality management, with direct involvement from senior management.
Question: Which measures and routines have proven particularly effective in practice?
Answer: The key is to link HR and ESG goals. This includes our focus on work-life balance, ergonomic and healthy workplaces, fitness and prevention programs, the involvement of employees in improvement processes, and our annual Strategy Excellence Forums (SEF) for the further development of culture, leadership, and sustainability.
Frage: Was würden Sie Unternehmen raten, die Social Sustainability ernsthaft stärken wollen?
